Be Bold in 2022: 5 HVAC New Year’s Resolutions

Happy New Year!

Now that the noisemakers have quieted and the confetti’s been swept, it’s time to start thinking about New Year’s resolutions. What are yours? If you’re like most people, you have a tried-and-true list to start the New Year with a bang:

✓ Lose weight

✓ Exercise more

✓ Get organized

✓ Travel

✓ Reduce stress

This year, The EverRest Group has some new suggestions – ones that could also boost your business. Our HVAC resolutions are designed to kickstart your company into 2022.

Resolve to try at least one:

1. Refresh your company’s image

Look at your company’s vehicles, signs and uniforms. Do they say modern, professional and ready to work? Or do they say stale, old and tired? A brand refresh can reframe your company’s image to bring in new customers.

A refresh includes aesthetic changes that liven your company’s professional image without sacrificing your reputation.  Some refresh ideas include:

  • Modernized logos
  • Expanded color palettes
  • Consistent messaging
  • Updated fonts
  • Personalized images and graphics
  • Energized social media profiles
  • Expanded website content

2. Commit to more social media

About 7 in 10 Americans use social media every day, so it makes sense to use it. Of all the social networking outlets, Facebook attracts about 70% of users across all demographics. Other social networking platforms, including YouTube, TikTok, Twitter and Instagram, are also popular options, albeit with more defined demographics.

When deciding what to post, consider your topic and audience. Simple content ideas can include technician spotlights, an HVAC DIY series and company news. Remember to use strategic hashtags and links to your website.

3. Approach every day like a first-day employee

Think back to your first day on your first HVAC job. You were probably enthusiastic about your work and mindful of your appearance. Look at yourself and your employees now. Do you see a sloppy appearance? Faces with scowls? Attitudes that need adjustment? It’s time to take a step back and revisit what makes you enjoy this profession.

First-day employees come to work looking neat, professional and ready to work. They have a positive attitude and a friendly demeanor. They strive to solve HVAC problems using EverRest methods, including Lead Generation Tasks, Mandatory Lead Conditions and Secondary Lead Conditions.

4. Create a peaceful and motivating workplace

Studies show toxic workplaces lead to poor-performing companies with depressed and stressed employees. Bad management reduces productivity, shatters enthusiasm and drives poor morale.

Before you dismiss toxicity as not your problem, take a critical look at your company. Maybe some areas need improvement. Examine what other companies do to keep their employees satisfied.  Ask your employees where they would like to see changes and take them to heart.

5. Follow the EverRest method

Do you think we’d forget your most important 2022 New Year’s resolution for your business? Not a chance.

The EverRest Group’s Peak Performance program has proven methods to transform your HVAC company into a 20% net profit machine. To achieve that goal, we want our clients to exercise our 5 Critical Components of Success:

  1. Keep a sales mix of 80% replacements and 20% service calls
  2. Perform EverRest methods on every call to maximize replacement leads and sales
  3. Position technicians in 4 to 5 homes a day
  4. Maximize replacement gross margins by keeping equipment costs at or below 30% of sales price (27% on 14 seer, 30% on 16 and 32% on 18)
  5. Work with a sense of urgency every day

Ultimately, your professional New Year’s resolutions should be to work to your full potential. Remember these words of wisdom from American entrepreneur Jim Rohn:

“Your life does not get better by chance. It gets better by change.”
